Miss Fletcher

Your teacher this year is Miss Fletcher and your teaching assistants are Lisa and Chloe.

Welcome back! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break? We are excited to welcome you and your child into Year Four.

Topic
This term, we will spend the first week studying Shakespeare and Macbeth, ending with a whole school production and celebration on Friday. We will then move on to the topic of Remarkable Romans, where we study the ways in which The Romans impacted life in Britain. This will include a trip to Lunt Fort (more details will follow in the next few weeks).

Homework
Homework books and due dates were sent out before the summer holidays, can you please ensure that the first piece of homework is completed and handed in on or before Friday 15th of September. If your child has built a model or made something, can you please ensure that their homework book comes into school alongside their creations. If your child has created a project or document using ICT and it is easier to email it please send it to: hurleyhomework@outlook.com. If there are any issues with homework please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Spelling
Spelling rules and word examples will be sent home every Friday (starting on 8/9/17) and spelling patterns will be tested the following Friday. Can children please ensure they have their red spelling books in schools to complete their tests in.  We will also have a weekly timetables test (You child will be made aware of the times table they are working on), this will take place on a Friday during our math’s lessons.

Reading
Your child will be given a school reading book; we endeavor to listen to your child read as often as possible during school time. However it is important that you also listen to your child read as often as possible at home. Please can both reading books and diaries be brought into school every day. This allows us and you to keep a record of where they are in the books and the progress they are making. Home school diaries are also used to share messages between the teaching staff and parents.

PE Lessons
For PE this term they will be having Gym sessions on a Thursday morning with a qualified coach, they will also be having a further PE session on a Tuesday afternoon. Please can you make sure that your child has appropriate PE at school for both of these sessions? Further sessions will occasionally be added throughout the week so it is good idea for PE kits to be in school at all times.

Water bottles and sun hats
Please can you ensure that you child has a water bottle in school every day this is especially important when the weather is warm.

If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Many thanks for your support
