Your teacher this year is Miss Coape-Arnold and your teaching assistant's are Dena and Wendy.
Welcome back to the children after the Easter break. We hope they enjoyed the Best of British week and it was the start of what will be a very busy term.
During the summer term, our topic will be ‘Animal Kingdom’. The children will learn about fossils, dinosaurs and animals from around the world. In science children will learn about different plants and the habitats of a variety animals as well as continuing to look at the changing seasons.
This term, children are swimming on a Monday and will need their swimming kit every week. In our Friday PE lesson, we will be doing athletics and team games. Please can you ensure your child has a complete PE kit – the list of appropriate kit can be found in your child’s homeschool diary. It would be helpful if children had their PE kits in all week as we may need to occasionally swap PE days. Please ensure all PE kit has your child’s name in.
After the half term holiday, Year 1 will be doing forest schools on Wednesday afternoons. More details to follow!
This term, we will be going to the West Midlands Safari Park. This will be a fun and informative trip linked to our topic. A letter will be sent out soon.
In the week beginning 12th June, children in Year 1 will be taking their phonics screening test. Please continue to practise phonic sounds with your child at home.
Water bottles and sun hats
Please ensure that your child has a named water bottle in school. Also, as the weather improves, please ensure your child is suitably protected against the sun.
We are really looking forward to an exciting summer term! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
